Last year, families, the PTO, Walmart departments and other donors turned a blank bike path into a child sized town!  A bustling community complete with a gas station, bank, store fronts, a bridge, road signs and a parking garage.  Children’s imaginations run wild everyday!

Now imagine your child talking a stroll down a stone pathway.  At the end, we find a weather station and fossil structure.  There is a log seating area under the trees allowing children to rest.  Cross a small bridge and find a garden for children to plant flowers or vegetables.  A rustic deck under another tree allows children to play with natural blocks.

Let’s add some trees and willow fencing blocking the view of the road and encouraging an appreciation for our environment.  Add a few natural benches and a small storage box.  Can’t you see children sitting on a bench reading or maybe laying on their back looking through binoculars?

Unilever, Shane and Leanna Paine, Shannon and Fred Bedore, and a Volunteerism Always Pays event joined HWCEC in raising money for the                  nature centers.  Currently, we have raised 61% of the total project cost Our nature center remodel will cost $25,000.
